1. Continental has been re-elected as Co-Chair for the period 2026-2029.
2. TIP serves as the primary platform for the tire industry's sustainability dialogues.
3. "We are honored to have been re-elected as Co-Chair. TIP encourages collaboration not only within the tire industry but also with academic institutions and other stakeholders," shared Christian Kötz, the head of Continental Tires.
From its headquarters in Hanover, Germany, Continental proudly announces its re-election as Co-Chair of the Tire Industry Project (TIP), a testament to its dedication towards advancing sustainability in the tire sector. This partnership, which began in 2005 among leading tire manufacturers, aims to tackle significant environmental concerns associated with tire production and usage. Continental plans to leverage its expertise and resources over the next four years to focus on critical areas such as tire and road wear particles, management of end-of-life tires, development of sustainability assessment methods, and enhancing transparency across the supply chain.
Christian Kötz articulated the company's sentiments, stating, "We are deeply honored to continue this journey as Co-Chair. The Tire Industry Project, which was established two decades ago, has united major tire manufacturers to confront complex sustainability challenges—one of which is improving scientific understanding of tire wear emissions. At Continental, we take our sustainability commitments seriously, and our active participation in industry-wide associations like TIP aligns perfectly with our ambitious sustainability goals."
Dr. Larisa Kryachkova, the Executive Director of the Tire Industry Project, commented on Continental's re-election, emphasizing the company’s longstanding dedication to TIP since its inception. She noted, "Continental's re-election as Co-Chair underscores its profound expertise and collaborative spirit. We anticipate a continued close partnership with Continental, which, alongside Co-Chair companies Bridgestone, Goodyear, and Michelin, will play a vital role in shaping the strategic future of the Tire Industry Project."
The Tire Industry Project stands as the premier international forum addressing sustainability throughout all stages of the tire lifecycle—from sourcing raw materials and manufacturing processes to tire usage and effective end-of-life management. Operating under the guidance of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), TIP represents ten leading tire manufacturers, collectively accounting for over 60% of the global tire production capacity.
