Attention, Pugwash residents! We have some exciting news for your health and well-being. A new mobile clinic is here to bring essential immunizations and testing right to your doorstep!
The Public Health Mobile Unit has set up shop at the Pugwash Legion Branch 60, located at 10778 Durham St., and will be open for business on Thursday, February 12th, from 12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. This is a fantastic opportunity to ensure you and your loved ones are protected against various illnesses and diseases.
But here's where it gets controversial... The clinic offers a wide range of vaccines, including COVID-19, influenza, shingles, and more. However, not all vaccines are available to everyone. Eligibility criteria vary, so it's crucial to understand your options. For instance, the COVID-19 vaccine is available to individuals aged 6 months and older, while the shingles vaccine is specifically for those aged 65 and above.
Let's break it down further:
- COVID-19 Vaccine (6 months+): Protect yourself and your community from the ongoing pandemic.
- Standard Influenza Vaccine (6 months+): Stay ahead of the flu season and reduce your risk of severe illness.
- Seniors' Influenza Vaccine (65+): Tailored for our older population, this vaccine provides enhanced protection.
- Shingles Vaccine (65+): Prevent the painful rash and potential complications associated with shingles.
- Pneumococcal Vaccine (65+): Protect against pneumonia and other serious infections.
- Adult RSV Vaccine (75+): A crucial vaccine for older adults to prevent respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infections.
- Varicella Vaccine (Chickenpox): Ensure your children are protected from this highly contagious disease.
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella Vaccine (MMR): A vital trio of vaccines to prevent these potentially life-threatening illnesses.
- MMR, Varicella Vaccine (MMRV): A combination vaccine for convenience and comprehensive protection.
- Tetanus, Diphtheria Vaccine (Td): Keep your immunity up-to-date against these bacterial infections.
- Td, Pertussis (Whooping Cough) Vaccine (Tdap): Protect yourself and those around you from this highly contagious respiratory disease.
And this is the part most people miss... Testing for COVID-19 and influenza is also available at the clinic. Eligibility criteria apply, so be sure to check the official website for more information.
Appointments are recommended for COVID-19, influenza, and adult RSV vaccines, as well as for testing. However, limited drop-ins are also available. For all other vaccines, drop-ins are the way to go.
