Marvel enthusiasts, brace yourselves for some disappointing news: it appears that Logan, otherwise known as Wolverine, won’t be making an appearance at tomorrow's PlayStation State of Play event.
Despite initial excitement surrounding the announcement of this State of Play, scheduled for February 12th, it seems that fans will need to keep their claws retracted. Sony had mentioned that the event would span over 60 minutes and feature a variety of updates, gameplay reveals, and announcements. Given this duration, many fans eagerly speculated that it might include new information about Insomniac’s Wolverine game, which was first hinted at back in 2021 during a PlayStation Showcase.
However, this anticipation may be misplaced. In response to a fan inquiry on social media about when more details regarding Logan's adventures might surface, Insomniac provided a straightforward reply: "Spring 2026."
Considering that February is far from the spring season (as I gaze out at a dreary, overcast sky wondering when sunlight will grace us again), it seems highly unlikely that Wolverine will be showcased at the upcoming event. The official start of spring is late March, so unless there’s some hidden surprise, we’ll likely have to wait longer for any Wolverine news.
On a brighter note, there’s a possibility that we might see a new title from Sony Santa Monica during the State of Play. Industry insider Shinobi602 hinted that it wouldn’t be too shocking for them to make an appearance, given their target release timeline. However, they also emphasized that this isn’t a confirmation of anything, keeping our hopes cautiously tempered.
Fortunately, we won’t have to wait long to see what Sony has planned, with the State of Play kicking off at 10 PM UK time tomorrow. What are you most excited to see revealed during this event?
While Wolverine may not be featured this month, there's some intriguing news related to another Marvel franchise. Recent rumors suggest that Marvel's Spider-Man 2 could be highlighted as one of the games available on PlayStation's PS Plus Extra service for February, adding to the excitement around Marvel-themed content even if Wolverine isn't in the spotlight.
